This study provides the first statistically representative international estimates of “bad bosses”. Using a net negative score across seven core supervisory qualities, such as respect, feedback, and support as the definition for a bad boss, the study finds that approximately 13% of Europe’s workers have a bad boss. This prevalence rate is lower than suggested by popular assumptions or extreme interpretations of the Peter Principle.
