This meta-analysis reveals that vacations provide significant and lasting benefits for employee well-being, contrary to prior beliefs that their effects are small and quickly disappear. Key to maximizing these benefits is psychological detachment from work and engaging in physical activities during time off. Factors like vacation length, national culture, and mandated vacation days also influence these positive impacts.
